Selected 5 months back, VLWs yet to get appointment orders

Early Times Report

kishtwar, Nov 22: Though the selection of village level workers (VLWs) was made about five months back by the J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB), the rural development department (RDD) is yet to issue their appointment orders. This puts a question mark on the government's 'fast track' recruitment process.
Some of the selected VLWs are on the verge of attaining overage. They are worried mainly because they apprehend that at some level something 'wrong' could be done to their selection list.
According to official sources, although JKSSB declared the result of selected candidates for the posts of VLWs after one month of their interviews, several other job aspirants who had applied for various other posts were still waiting for the release of selection lists.
It is, however, surprising to note that RDD has failed to appoint the selected VLWs even after about five months of their selection. The candidates were selected for Item No 551 of the advertisement issued vide No 06 of September 1, 2015.
All the selected candidates were referred to the Directorate of Rural Development, Jammu, by JKSSB vide letter No SSB/Sel/Secy/2016/17451-57 dated June 21, 2016 and administrative department letter No RD&PR /NG/130/2016 dated August 26, 2016 for further posting and action thereof, but the RDD inaction has made the selected VLWs angry. While talking to Early Times, the selected candidates rued the RDD functioning over delay despite the fact that department was facing acute shortage of staff in Kishtwar district where even GRS were working as VLWs in majority of the 13 blocks. They have sought speedy disposal of the issue. They have urged Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and RDD Minister Abdul Haq Khan to personally intervene in the matter and direct the authorities concerned to allow the joining of selected candidates without any further delay.
