Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 27: A DSP and a police station SHO, both of whom are posted in Jammu district, have become bitterly hostile towards each other. They are at daggers drawn and ever ready to fight with each other over trivial matters involving their respective political masters. While the DSP is faithful to a BJP minister, the SHO is an MLA's confidant. Both work for their respective political masters and don't like each other. Even as the SHO is under the DSP's operational command, he often disobeys his orders, according to police sources.
"The SHO is inclined more towards the MLA ever since his posting at the police station. The minister didn't like it. Another reason for him to dislike the SHO is that he preferred the MLA to him. To teach the SHO a lesson and keep a check on him and a senior officer, who too is said to be quite thick with the MLA, the minister got his blue-eyed DSP posted as SDPO in the area," sources said.
"While the DSP watches the interests of the minister only, the SHO and the senior officer create hurdles for him. In return, he too creats hurdles for them and takes time in clearing the official files sent by them for his signatures and approval," the sources added, saying this has been continuing since long.
"The SHO also refuses to do the duties assigned to him by the DSP. Whenever the latter asks him to do a particular job, he expresses his inability to do so, saying that the senior officer has deputed him to some other place," sources said.
Almost everybody in police circles knows about the animosity between the DSP and the SHO, but no senior has ever intervened because of their proximity to the politicians.
