Jammu loses custodian land to encroachers
Officials watch helplessly

Jammu, Nov 27: Vast tract of custodian land is encroached across Jammu province and the lethargy of the custodian department only encourages them.
Sources in the department informed Early Times that there were many reports of re-encroachment of retrieved land in some areas of Jammu province and these nefarious designs were executed under a well planned conspiracy, involving some officials of department also.
Giving some examples, sources informed that in Khamb village of RS Pura, land measuring 1 Kanal and 5 marlas, falling in Khasra number 199 was retrieved by department, nearly four years back but at present, same was against encroached by the encroachers.
In Vijaypur town, a total of 12 kanals 13 Marlas, falls in Khasra number 471 and 473 of Custodian land was retrieved by department some years back, which was adjoining of National Highway near Gurudwara but at present is once again, away from the control of department.
Similarly, in village Kangrial of Akhnoor, a total of 13 kanals, 16 marlas of land, falls under Khasra number 237 was retrieved by department, few years back and was also fenced by department, but at present has once again come under encroachments.
In Badroad Jammu, 16 kanals and 19 Marls of land under Khasra number 347, 348 and 355 was retrieved by department, on which an orchid was there. "There was case in the court of law but at present the status of court case is unknown and people have once against encroached the land.
"Nearly 115 kanals of land of Custodian department was retrieved by department in village Chouhala and RS Pura by department. Even the department had also challenged the mutations of the land and department had also auctioned the land but with active connivance of some officials, land is once again encroached", sources alleged.
Custodian Jammu Mustaq Malik was not contacted for comments as his phone was found not reachable.
