Blind murder or accident, Rajouri police still groping in the dark

Rajouri, Nov 29: Even after a week police here at Rajouri still groping in the dark in the alleged murder of a youth that took place on November 22 when his body was recovered from a car that was allegedly rolled down into a deep gorge by the accused (s) after committing the crime.
The deceased was identified as Wasim Raja Malik resident of Darhal and was presently living in Rajouri along with parents.
On the complaint of Ghulam Qadir, father of the deceased, Darhal police have arrested six friends/colleagues of the deceased reportedly, as per father's written complaint, and police started the investigation.
On the demands of the family members and relatives, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by one of the honest officers Zakir Saheen Malik, SDPO, Manjakot was also constituted by the SSP ,Atul Sharma to investigate and crack the blind murder.
One of the relatives of Wasim Raja Malik had informed the police that when he left Rajouri in the car of one of his friends namely Wasim Akram he was accompanied by his four friends and when the car met with an accident only Wasim Raja was injured and other friends were missing.
Police sources said that the deceased and his friends were involved in the drug peddling network and were also drug addicts.
Reliable sources said that initial investigation carried out by the police reportedly reveals that the youth who were accompanying by the deceased were dropped by the Wasim Raja Malik while on the way to Darhal .
The deceased then left for Darhal to collect a consignment of drug and while on way back he lost control on the car ( he might have taken the drugs while collecting the consignment) that fell in the deep gorge resulting in his instant death.
Reliable sources further added that the investigating team have also arrested a drug peddler from Darhal namely Zahir reportedly for supplying drugs to the group.
Police had registered a murder case against the accused in case FIR NO.74/2016 under Sections 302 RPC (murder) and 364 RPC (kidnapping/abduction in order to murder) at the Darhal police station. "The investigation in the alleged murder is in progress. The youth arrested have been quizzed by the investigating officer and the statements of the family members were also recorded. Any revelation at this juncture will hamper the investigation " said Atul Sharma, SSP (officiating).
