Heavy Blasting inside railway tunnel damages dozens of houses
Locals staged protest, work suspended on tunnel no T- 77A

Banihal, Nov 29 : Work on under construction railway tunnel in Banihal was suspended on Tuesday due to locals staged a protest in front of the tunnel when their residential houses got partially damaged after a heavy blast take by the construction company inside the tunnel for its excavation. .
Locals alleged that their houses were cracked after the heavy blast takes inside the tunnel by the Beigh construction company BCC.
The nearby residents said that the construction company took a heavy blast inside the tunnel for its execution at evening on Monday due to which dozens of residential houses were damaged partially,they said that the impact of the blast was so high that three children were fainted in the village Banknote Banihal where this railway tunnel number T-77 A is under construction.
Reports said that locals on Tuesday morning staged a protest in front of the tunnel and demanded the compensation and action against the company and railway authorities for their negligence which resulted the partially damage of more than three dozen houses . Local residents said that the company engaged on the construction of this tunnel has not given any siren before the blasting nor they took the control of blasting inside the tunnel which resulted the damage of the residential houses in the area.
After the protest followed by the local residents the District development Commis-ioner DDC Ramban Moham-mad Ajaz Asad, SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar, Tehsildar Banihal Naiz Ahmed , SHO Banihal Nazir Ahmed Dar and Naib tehsildar Ab Salam reached to the spot and listened the protestors.
The DDC during his visit in the area assured the local protesters that he will take up the matter with railway authorities and IRCON who is responsible for the construction of railway line in Banihal area. DDC told the protesters that their damage will be assessed and after the assessment of loss every possible help and compensation will be provided to them. Local protesters said to DDC that the railway authorities are working in the area for their benefits and fast progress in work. He said that these construction companies are ignoring the local youth for not providing jobs to them in the ongoing construction project. They alleged that they are not against the construction of this national project but they helped in all fronts to the construction agencies in the interest of this national project but the railway authorities and construction companies are ignoring them in all fronts.
Local youth leader Mohammad Alyas said that they are demanding compensation of damaged structures, land acquired under new alignment of T 77 A , adjustment of local youth in the project ,improvement and upgradation of Bankoot Tatnihal and creation of asset under CSR .They thanked the Deputy Commissioner and SSP Ramban for visiting the spot and assuring early redressal of public grievances.
