Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 29: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has taken strong note of the incident of assault on the senior leadership of the party by the incharge police officer at Mishriwala yesterday during Aakrosh Rally of the party and sought appropriate action in the matter.
A meeting of senior functionaries of PCC was held here today under the chairmanship of PCC President G.A. Mir to take stock of the situation in the aftermath of Aakrosh rallies all over Jammu province yesterday and thanked the party leaders and workers all across the province who participated in large numbers to make the programme a grand success in a short time, to lodge protests in a peaceful manner regarding hardships of the common people due to demonetization. The meeting also expressed satisfaction that by and large the police administration acted cautiously, as the party had already announced to exercise their democratic rights in a peaceful manner with minimum inconvenience to the general public and the party leaders and workers behaved very responsibly obeying the instructions of the party leadership, in this regard.
However, the party expressed serious concern and condemned the partisan role of the incharge police officer (SHO Kanachak ) who not only failed to discharge his duty lawfully but intentionally and deliberately created a situation for resorting to lathicharge on the peaceful procession and assaulted the senior leaders of the party especially Balwan Singh ex-MLA and general secretary of the PCC.
The party has already taken up the matter with the higher authorities, and hoped appropriate action would follow in the matter, failing which the party would persue the matter vigorously and expose the anti-democratic and patrician role of the concerned police.
The meeting was attended by Sr. Vice-President Sham Lal Sharma, Ex-Dy CM Tara Chand , Dy. CLP Leader Aiyaz Khan, Vice presidents Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, General Secretaries Balwan Singh, Shabir Ahmed Khan and Vikram Malhotra
