Jammu, Dec 1: Further inviting embarrassments for the state government, a senior Cabinet Minister has apparently turned broker to settle cases of land disputes falling under the department of his ministry by using henchmen to convince second party, sources told Early Times.
According to sources, the cabinet minister has adopted a novel modus operandi to possess disputed land, falling in the department under his ministry by breaking the deals.
"The cabinet minister has put his henchmen on job to convince the parties in dispute to sell the land on low rates," said sources, adding that being the cabinet minister, the person in question has all the knowledge regarding disputed lands, so he easily instructs his henchmen to approach particular party directly and convince them for the deal on cheaper rates.
The sources said that the cabinet minister uses his henchmen for the job of getting disputed lands on cheap rates.
"The cabinet minister has devised a well thought out strategy to clinch the deal," said sources, adding that the henchmen introduce themselves as influential people having good approach in the government, so that they can attain the trust of the second party.
"The henchmen are asked to take the second party into confidence by saying that they will fight case with the department with regard to the retrieval of the land," said sources, adding that the cabinet minister has already expanded his network of henchmen in different locations of the state, but due to demonetization, several deals of the minister have been struck.
