Class XII topper dropped under SAARC quota

Srinagar, Jan 17: A Class XII topper of J&K State Board (science stream) is moving from pillar to post from last one week as some educational consultancies have forged academic record and marks sheets of some candidates thus depriving him of admission under SAARC quota in Government run Medical College in Bangladesh.
Faheem Raashid class XII topper of 2017 batch a resident of Bagat Kanipora Nowgam has alleged that some students from Kashmir valley with much lesser merit were selected by Bangladeshi authorities which was facilitated by some educational consultancies from Srinagar.
As per details available with Early Times, Faheem Rashid had scored 491 marks out of 500 in 2017 class XII. He topped in Biology, by securing 99 % marks.
While talking to Early Times Faheem said that he was sure he would get selected in some of the Govt run Medical Colleges of Bangladesh but he was shocked when he found names of some other candidates who had scored much less marks than him.
From last 7 days Faheem tried his best to highlight this issue but authorities have not acted till date.
" I was sure to get selected being topper in my batch , however I was shocked to see the SAARC merit list in which students from Kashmir with lesser merit than me were selected for the MBBS course" he regretted.
"I was shocked to see names of 8 students from my batch in the merit list, inspite of the fact that they had much less marks than me in class XII . These 8 students were not even in the top 15 positions in the merit list of class," Faheem added.
Another aggrieved student told Early Times that J&K Government must take up the issue with Bangladesh Embassy. He alleged that students selected for MBBS admission have produced fake class XII marks sheets through various consultancies and some officials in Bangladesh embassy are also said to be involved in this scam.
Meanwhile Crime Branch has taken cognizance of this case and FIR is likely to be registered within a few days.
