Jammu, July 7: Continuing his mass contact programme Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta who would be contesting assembly elections from Gandhi Nagar constituency, as independent candidate on Sunday interacted with the residents of Sanjay Nagar sector 3, seeking their support for a change.
The residents welcomed the independent candidate enthusiastically and promised to support the cause he has taken up for the betterment of the society and their constituency.
Munish Gupta promised to work for them and address all the issues they are facing.
The locals castigated the role of the former representatives of Gandhi Nagar constituency, particularly Kavinder Gupta, who did not visited his constituency in general and the Sanjay Nagar in particular. However, few development projects of civic amenities like lane drains initiated during the tenure of Congress MLA, which still incomplete and restarted by Kavinder Gupta during the three years tenure in power.
Mamta Sabarwal and Jasbir Kour residing just near to incumbent Councillor, Dewaraka Choudhary informed Munish Gupta that our lanes is uprooted by PHE department nearly two month ago to lay down supply pipes. Now the work is completed but the department concerned still not maintained their lane. The tiles are littered here and there which is posing threat to children and elderly people.
"we repeatedly asked to incumbent councillor who is resident of same lane, but he never gave any attention, resulting, the dug up lane has become a sources of water logging, drains are clogged and despite laid down of new water supply pipes, the water is not reaching in our homes", said Jasoda Devi.
"A lane which connects nearly hundred of houses from near Balbir Provisional store, is turned dilapidated. Last year, the incumbent councillor had asked us, our lane has been sanctioned for blacktopping and in this regard, the department concerned come here to get survey but after lapse of one month, the work of blacktopping is yet to be initiated", said Balbir Singh a local Shopkeeper.
"Mohit Gupta and his wife Neha Gupta is still not covered in electoral list. In 2008 assembly election, Mohit Gupta had even casted his vote but following election his and her wife name have been deleted from the electoral list. On one hand, the government has encouraging youth to cast their vote but on other hand, the officials delete their name from the list due to unknown reason", said Neena Gupta mother of Mohit Gupta.
She further said my son have submitted all the documents to get register in electoral list for four times, but every times his and her wife name is absent from the list.
Veena Devi and Kaka Ram who have been residing back lane of Dewaraka Choudhary (Councillor) informed Munish Gupta that our streetlights has gone kaput since last many months. They repeatedly her made pleas to Councillor for restoration of streetlights and sanitation but they pleas have yield nothing. |
