Ahead of Cabinet expansion, Cong leaders rush to New Delhi | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 8: Hectic political activity has been reported from the national capital as most of the Congress leaders from the State have reached there to try their luck. However, if sources are to be believed the JKPCC chief has already finalized the list and is awaiting Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's nod. The over due expansion/reshuffle of the State Cabinet has been slated for January 10 when Omar the Chief Minister is likely to hold a meeting of his Cabinet colleagues. This shall be followed by swearing in ceremony. A source in the Chankiyapuri Kashmir House confirmed that leaders from the State had arrived. However, he did not disclose the names. According to insiders the JKPCC chief has consulted former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad and the duo seems to have reached a consensus on the candidates. Pertinent to mention, Soz and Azad head their own factions of the Congress. The infighting has trickled down to the gross root level especially in Chenab Valley. Sources confirmed that three new Ministers from both the coalition partners (1 from NC and 2 from Congress) will be administered oath of office and secrecy and many sitting Ministers will be divested of the portfolios they are presently holding. Re-allocation of portfolios, sources added, will also be effected probably on January 10. It has been reliably learnt that Congress party has already given its nod to induction of MLA Inderwal, G M Saroori and MLA, Doda, Abdul Majid Wani in the State Cabinet while as National Conference has cleared decks for MLA, Kupwara Mir Saifullah However, sources in National Conference said the party seemed disinterested in the proposed expansion. |
