Locals have hailed the move, saying new building of the hospital in Janglatmandi is accessible to all. The building of the hospital was declared unsafe by the department of Fire and Emergency Services, official sources revealed Official sources said that in the last fire broke out in the building and damaged the main theater forcing higher ups of the department to take a final call on the shifting of hospital which was being delayed since from past few years due to political interference. "Former Health Minister Taj Mohd-ud-Din has formally ordered shifting of the hospital to Janglatmandi before a year now but was delayed and delay was politically motivated." Health Department official, whishing anonymity told Early Times. Expressing gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and administration, a delegation told Early Times that they are quite satisfied with the shifting of hospital which was difficult to be reached due to choked and narrow roads. "This hospital caters the rush from Banihal. Patients from far-flung areas including Shopian and Kulgam visit the hospital but it was too difficult for an ambulance to reach Sherbagh due to narrow roads." Zahoor Ahmad, a member of the delegation said. "Janglatmandi is comparatively a better place and well connected to all areas, delegation said. However they expressed anguish against the health department which according to them has not yet publicized the shifting of hospital to Janglatmandi through official media including Radio and television. "It has been a week since the administration shifted hospital from here but people still visit this old building." They added and demanded shifting of periodic sector of the hospital in couple of days. Medical Superintend of Maternity and Child Care hospital Anantnag, Dr Mehraab told Early Times that yet they haven't completely shifted the hospital. "I have deputed two people at the old building who assist the patients. I have also informed block level officers as well." He said, adding shifting of hospital completely will take time. |
