Shailendra inaugurates state art exhibition 1/22/2015 10:42:32 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 22: The 49th annual state Art Exhibition-cum-Award presentation ceremony organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages today was inaugurated by Shailendra Kumar Commissioner/ Secretary to Government Tourism and Culture Department at Kala Kendra, Jammu today. A galaxy of artists, art lovers and stuents were present on the occasion. Shailendra Kumar, IAS had a glimpse of the Art pieces exhibited in the exhibition which have been created on different subjects by the Artists. Earlier while welcoming the august gathering Sh. Haroon Rashid , Secretary said that this Annual State Art Exhibition and Award ceremony is a regular activity of the Academy which is held every year with an aim to promote visual and plastic art in the State. He further said that this activity not only provides platform to the State Artists for showcasing their work but also provides viewers an opportunity to appreciate local talent available in the form of Art. Shailendra Kumar presented awards to those who had been adjudged best in 2012-13. Those who were given Awards in Artist category were Sat Pal Doel for his work "untitled" and Zameer Ahmad for his body work "The Real life" "End of the day" in painting. These Awards carry an amount of Rs. 51000/- each. In students category, the prizes clinched by Khursheed Ahmad for his work "Fantasy " in painting whereas Sh. Kanesh Panotra carries for his work "sketch book" in sculpture section. These prizes were of Rs. 10000/- each.
