Rafting adventure organised for School Students 2/5/2015 10:26:48 PM Early Times Report Reasi, Feb 5: In a bid to promote tourism and adventure activities in Reasi District, an adventure camp was organized by the Eco -Adventure group. A large number of students from Presentation Convent School, Akhnoor and local schools attended the camp. The major highlights of the camp were rafting in Chenab River and wall climbing which was enjoyed by one and all. Manager Eco-Adventure-Gurjeet Singh, said that the Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine which is only 25 km from here attracts over one crore tourists annually and our youth have to go there to earn their livelihood. Should Reasi, which attracted 20 lac tourists last year visiting Shivkhori, be also developed as a tourist destination, the region will be blessed with another Gulmarg and transform the lives of five lac people of the region. Dheeraj a local youth and a budding entrepreneur who conducted a group of students in rafting said, "Each day I sit by the Chenab waiting for tourists to enjoy the world class facilities that exist at Reasi, but only a few tourists stop by.
