Omar bats for JK's secular ethos, says Azad will win in RS elections | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 5: Omar Abdullah who had accused Ghulam Nabi of being opportunist to the extent of licking even shoes for his personal gains has now pitched the RS elections as fight between secular and 'communal' forces. The former chief minister has even predicted Azad's win. Omar who had earlier enjoyed the perks and privileges of being a central minister in the Vajpayee led NDA government has now said that parties and individuals should vote for Azad for upholding the secular ethos of the State. The former chief minister had though forgotten these when values when he and his henchmen engineered a split in the BJP and used the vote of the seven MLAs to secure victory for the NC candidates in the MLC. Omar not only used these MLAs for his political game but in the end left the political career of these BJP MLAs in the shambles. Omar by being in the NDA and then by using their votes didn't think about the secular ethos as he has been now labelling the BJP as communal. The former chief minister and the working president of the National Conference, who had lost election from the one seat and won from the second by a whisker, is now suggesting that Azad will be victorious but the defeat of one candidate of the BJP-PDP alliance. He is implying that one candidate of the PDP will lose and it will mean that as per his calculation that it will be the BJP which will be dictating the terms. "Omar Abdullah sacrificed and decimated his party by pleading with the Congress to give him chief ministerial for full six years. He didn't care about the ministries and was only enjoying his chair. He himself took dictation both from the Congress high command and then from the then home minister Chidambaram who even issued directions to the extent which police officer should be posted where. Now he calling of PDP willing to get dictated by the BJP doesn't sound logical but is rather absurd," said a senior NC leader who had been sidelined by Omar Abdullah. |
