KD stages protest, demands slashing of passengers’ fare | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 5: Kranti Dal activists today held a protest against the Transport Department demanding reduction in passenger fare as the prices of diesel had been slashed by the Central Government. A large number of Kranti Dal activists led by State President Pritam Sharma assembled in Indira Chowk Jammu and raised slogan against Transport Department. Pritam Sharma said that despite considerable fall in petrol and diesel prices from past three months, authorities did not bother to reduce the passenger fare. Pritam further said that when petro prices go up then transporters come out and cry for the hike in fare but when the prices have been slashed down and no one from transporters' association are demanding about reduction of passengers' fare. Sharma also asking to Centre Govt. the rate of the oil in International Market is $45/- Per Barrel and why out centre not reducing as per the market rate? "The unjustified and illogical fare being charged is an open loot of the poor people, who travel daily by public transport. The transporters are the part of the society and they should understand their social responsibility towards society," he said.
