REASI, Feb 5: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu organized training programme on Farmers Club at KVK campus. KVK, Reasi has formed the farmers club which is named as Vaishno Devi group in collaboration with the NABARD, Reasi. Ten women farmers of the club participated in the programme. Dr Shahid Ahmad, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Reasi while interacting with the participating farmers' club members, motivated them to work enthusiastically to generate more income by working together. Dr Ahmad said that clubs should specify their objectives well in advance. He also suggested the women farmers/club members that after saving the money, the amount should be deposited in the concerned bank. He gave a detailed view of the crops diseases and gave certain recommendations to control them. He encouraged the club members that they should generate more and more income by commercial agriculture. Dr Banarsi Lal elaborated the method of formation and maintenance of farmers clubs and gave a detailed view of benefits of farmers club. He said that farmer club formation has immense scope in hilly areas and can play a vital role in eradication of poverty from these areas. He further narrated the farmers especially farm women can start micro- entrepreneurships at village level by working in clubs. He further informed the club members that NABARD will provide the assistance of Rs 10, 000 to the club each year which the club can utilize for the capacity building of its members. He also added that bank provides the assistance to the club for first three years and after that the clubs can start their own agri-entrepreneurship. |
