Police organizes 'anti drugs campaign' to aware youth of drug menace

Rajouri, Feb 5: Under its Civic Action Programmes (CAP) District Police Rajouri held various programmes and awareness campaigns to make the youth of the district aware about the drug menace and saving them from falling prey to the hands of drug peddlers.Under its initiative to make the society free from drugs menace, police in collaboration local cricket clubs organized a Cricket Tournament which as inaugurated by the Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri Dr Haseeb Mughal here today.In his inaugural address, SSP Rajouri said, "Rajouri Police is committed to have a drugs free society and look forward for support and active cooperation of likeminded social organizations to fight this menace which is eating up very vitals of our society particularly our youth."
He said with an objective of harnessing the talent of youth in sports and strengthen the Police-Public relationships the police under Civic Action Programme is organizing number of sports activities across the district.The inaugural match was played at District Police Line (DPL) today between Ajmer Cricket club and Eleven Star Cricket Club which was won by Eleven Star by 3 wickets. Sachin Singh of Eleven Star was declared man of the match for securing 79 runs, claiming two wickets and taking three catches.Second match will be played between Seven Star Cricket Club and Danishabad Cricket Club on Friday.Eight teams divided in four groups are participating in this tournament which received overwhelming response from the people and cricket lovers of district who thronged to the venue.
Yet in another similar initiative to make the society free from drugs menace, police in collaboration with Kalakot Jagran Munch organized a symposium at Higher Secondary School at Kalakot on the topic 'Abuse of Drugs in New Generation'. Seven students from various institutions expressed their view on the topic of the symposium in which Rakesh Kumar, IPS, ASP was the chief guest while Sargun Shukla SDPO, Nowshera attended the guest of honor.Uzma from Solki Higher Secondary School (HSS), Kajal from Kalakot, HSS of Hr Secondary School and Deepak Sharma from Kalakot Indira High School bagged top three positions respectively. Speaking on the occasion Rakesh Kumar, ASP emphasized on the youth to focus on their career and do not indulge in drug addiction & other anti-social activities.
Guest of Honour Sargun Shukla, SDPO spoke on the ill effects of the drug menace and advised students to refrain from it. Later the winners were awarded cash prizes, trophies and certificates of participation by the chief guest.
