KATHUA, Feb 5: An awareness camp under Swacch Bharat Mission -Grameen for rural masses was organized by the Block Development Office Keerian Gandyal under the aegis of Ministry of Drinking Water and Rural Sanitation, Government of India & Department of Rural Development J&K. Various Officers of Rural Development Department viz Bal Krishan, Deputy Director of Rural Sanitation Department Jammu, Tilak Raj Assistant Commissioner Development Kathua, Anil Thakur District Panchayat Officer Kathua, Surinderjeet Kour Block Development Officer Barnoti were present in the camp and discussed various aspects regarding Swacch Bharat Mission-Grameen with rural masses. Block Development Officer Barnoti, while addressing and welcoming the public said that there is a direct relationship exists between water, sanitation, health, nutrition, and human well being. Consumption of contaminated drinking water, improper disposal of human excreta, lack of personal and food hygiene and improper disposal of solid and liquid waste have been the major causes of many diseases in developing countries like India. Though a lot of work has been done in the field of rural sanitation in the past decade under TSC in the country, sanitation coverage, which ought to be a way of life to safeguard health, is still inadequate. |
