World Consumer Rights Day celebrated in Gujjar-Bakarbal Hostel | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Mar 15 : On the eve of World Consumer Rights Day, CA&PD and Legal Metrology Department, Poonch organized a function in the conference hall of Gujjar-Bakarbal Hostel Poonch. Around 250 students of Gujjar-Bakerbal Hostel and outside the hostel attended the function and listen to various speakers who spoke on the occasion. The Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, MH Malik, was the chief guest of the function. While highlighting the importance of the Consumer rights, he stressed the student to apply their informed choices to buy commodity from the market and assert their right as vigilant consumer. The Assistant Director CAPD Abdul Rashid Ganie highlights the importance of CAPD department in protection of Consumer rights and emphasized that they can approach to the office of Assistant Director or Assistant Controller Legal Metrology in case of any compliant and also informed the audience that both the department are authorized on behalf of consumers to lodge compliant in appropriate consumers forums. The Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Kewal Krishan threw light on the theme of this years celebration of World Consumer Rights Day. The theme of this celebration was "Healthy Diets". The Assistant Controller advised the audience to use healthy diets and avoid salty, fatty and fancy fast foods as such unhealthy foods are causes of four of the ten biggest causes of deaths worldwide. In the Second half of the Programme, the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology gave valuable advises to the students with critical examples and also threw light on the procedures to lodge complaint in consumer forums. He advised the students that they should secure the bills of the Commodity they purchased from the market as the same can be used for redressal of grievances in future. While replying to a question of a student about charges of hefty fees by private institutions in the name of Professional Courses, the Assistant Controller stressed the students that before seeking admission in any private institution, they should know about the affiliation and recognition of the institution and courses they run. He also suggested them that they should pay fees via cheques and secure bill from such institutes which may prove beneficial if need arises in future. |
