Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 15 : The PDP-BJP coalition government will soon appoint the Vice-Chairpersons for different State Advisory Boards, sources told Early Times on Sunday. Sources said the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has directed the Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu to work-out the details of appointing VCs with the coalition partner BJP so that the process of appointing new VCs is started at the earliest. Pertinently the State Government had ordered termination of the appointment of Vice-Chairpersons of different State Advisory Boards on March 10 besides termination of the term of Chairperson of J&K State Commission for Women. The VCs who services were terminated by the government on March10 include Swarn Lata, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Ch Bashir Naz, Radhay Sham Sharma and Kafeel-ur-Rehman who were heading J&K State Advisory Boards for the Welfare and Development of Scheduled Castes, OBCs, Gujjars & Bakkerwals, Kissans and Pahari Speaking People, respectively. The appointment of Shamima Firdous as Chairperson, J&K State Commission for Women, ended today. Pertinent to mention that appointment of these outgoing Vice-Chairpersons and the Chairperson were made by the previous Government. Sources said that Mufti is keen to appoint the new VCs before the commencement of the budget session of the J&K legislature on March18. Sources said Mufti wants to accommodate some party persons before the nomination of 8 members to the legislative council. Sources said those who are likely to be appointed as VCs of the State advisory Boards from PDP quota include former MLAs, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Peerzada Mansur Husain, Mohammad Sartaj Madni while as former MLA Bandipora, Nizamuddin Bhat is likely to be appointed as General Secretary of the PDP. Sources said former bureaucrat, Mehboob Iqbal who contested the recent assembly elections from Bhaderwah constituency and polled around 18000 votes is also tipped for the post of general secretary PDP for Jammu region. Meanwhile sources said the Mufti lead coalition government will soon recommend a panel to the governor for appointment of chairman and other members of the Public service Commission. Sources said the Director Vigilance Organization (IPS) Sheikh Owais Ahmad who is retiring in June is likely to figure in the panel. Owais is the non-controvercial police officer of the state who has served on many positions, however, he was victimized by the former Omar Abdullah government. Besides Owais the new government is contemplating to recommend two more retiring officers as members of PSC to the governor. It merits a mention here that Governor N N Vohra, on December 14, 2014 had rejected the seven-member panel the Omar Abdullah government had submitted for filling up the vacancies in the Public Service Commission (PSC) including that of the Chairman. Governor had expressed serious reservations over the manner the Omar Abdullah government had shortlisted the members for the prestigious body and later on forwarded to him for the approval. The Raj Bhavan had earlier returned the file to the General Administration Department (GAD) on October 23 with specific queries. The governor had rejected the panel and left it to the new government to take a call on filling up the vacancies. |
