Training programme on Farm School under NMAET concludes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 15 : Sixth Training Programme organized on farm school at Village Jerda Block/ Zone Ramgarh District Samba under National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology concluded today. Chief Scientist from SKUAST-J Dr BS Jamwal deliberated at length on quality seed production of wheat and importance of genetic purity for getting higher returns. He also stressed for diverting some of the cultivated land by farmers towards seed production programme wherein returns are quite high in comparison to grain production in wheat crop. Another scientist from SKUAST-J Dr Reena in her technical message aware the participants of the on farm school regarding identification of store grain pests and their management. She also advised the farmers to adopt new technologies to control store grain pests for safety of food grains. Project Director (ATMA) VK Bhushan during his interaction with the farmers regarding impact of all the training programme with a hope that the participants of the on farm school will adopt improved agricultural practices in their field for better production near future. Deputy Project Director (ATMA) Ashok Gupta while reviewing the feedback participants gave assurance regarding adoption of organic farming in their field. He also advised the farmers to adopt scientific based IPM techniques for better production instead of applying poisonous insecticides in their field crops. Assistant Technical Manager Parshotam Sharma gave the concept of Solar treatment for wheat seed in the month of May and June. At the end of concluded training programme Sarpanch Mohan Singh Bhatti along with participants of the on farm school appreciated the efforts of ATMA team District Samba, Scientist from SKUAST-J and Departmental officers for their punctuality and participation in all the six training programs of the on farm school. |
