Residents of Chakli Dhanwan resent over delay of bridge construction | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Mar 15: Inhabitants of Chakli Dhanwan and its adjoining hamlets have expressed their resentment over the unwarranted delay in the construction of the bridge over a rivulet which will connect their area with the Jammu-Poonch high way. Pertinently the construction work on this bridge was started about 6 years ago and people alleged that the during all these years the contractor could construct only two pillars. Inhabitants of this village also resented the non-cooperative attitude of the officials of Public Works Department (PWD) and alleged despite several representations to these officials they didn't bother to instruct the contractor for speeding up the construction work. After getting no responsible response from the contractor as well as from the PWD officials , women inhabitants of the area recently held a protest demonstration before the office of Deputy Commissioner at Rajouri alleging that the contractor has carrying the construction work on snail pace reportedly in nexus with PWD officials for the reasons best known to them. "The inhabitants of Chakli Dhanwan and its adjoining areas many hurdles in the absence of this bridge as they are left with no option then to cross the rivulet on feet. Especially women and children are facing many difficulties while crossing the rivulet during rain and flood" said Sarfraz Begam who along with Neelam Kumari lead the protest demonstration. |
