Backdoor appointments in LA: Will CM be real action 'hero' here too.....? | | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 17: In keeping with his commitment of having a neat, transparent and corruption free government, the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed continued streak of steps he has been taking with yet another stroke ordering with immediate effect termination of all the employees who were granted re-employment by government departments during previous regimes. The order has termed as a decision to rid the state from the scourge of nepotism and rejuvenate administration has been lauded in all quarters. The moot question remains that will this decision have reflection of action the state Assembly where nepotism and favoritism have come to stay and backdoor appointments have become order of functioning for years, thanks to erstwhile rulers who allowed it happen for their own convenience. Today's order also makes it clear that engagements, arrangements made by the different departments, PSUs, Boards and even autonomous bodies under any scheme against any sanctioned posts without any selection procedure, even on contractual basis, shall also cease to exist with immediate effect. In the state Assembly all such steps have been followed that fall in contrariety to set rules and procedures for making normal appointments . Et has repeatedly and consistently reported such aberrations while appointing people through backdoor for various posts over the last few years, something which has fallen on deaf ears of all-from rulers to Vigilance Organization and Accountability Commission that has stood as mute spectator to anarchy caused by depriving deserving candidates seeking jobs. Coincidentally , The Chief Minister only yesterday called upon new legislators to maintain the sanctity of the state Legislature which he termed as powerhouse. While all that holds true in terms of having respect and regard for temple of democracy, it certainly doesn't sound straight talk on the face of brazen backdoor appointments made in the past. It remains to be seen will Chief Minister's call be just a rhetoric or he will be prove to a real action hero in this matter too .Since in today's order it has been specifically mentioned that the chief minister issued these directions to restore the credibility of the administration, his action becomes all the more imperative. |
