APSCC appeals Govt to adjourn both Houses | | | Jammu, Apr 1: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has asked the state government to adjourn both the Houses of state legislature for some days so that the legislators go to their respective constituencies and provide relief to the people since a flood like situation has emerged due to the continuous rains across the state. In a statement, APSCC Chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina said since MLAs are the representatives of people it would be in tune if the legislators are by side of their electorate in this hour of crisis. Raina said that discussing flood like situation in assembly and council is not going to help people who are in dire need of help at this moment of time. "It would be appropriate if both the state assembly and legislative council are adjourned for a week or so. The adjournment would provide an opportunity to the legislators to visit their respective areas and help people who have been badly affected by the continuous rain. People look towards their elected representative in this hour of need and they should not feel ditched," said Raina. The APSCC Chairman said that adjournment of legislature would also help the state government to take meaningful steps in providing relief to the affected people. He demanded that government machinery should be pressed into service in the affected areas so that there is no repeat of September 2014 flood like situation. |
