State Govt takes first practical step towards e-governance in CAPD Deptt, replaces weights with machines | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 1: Government is committed to bring transparency in the public distribution system, adding that the conventional weighing system at the ration depots will be replaced with Electronic Weighing Machines from 1st April, 2015. This was stated by Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Choudhary Zulfiqar while replying to a clubbed question by Jugal Kishore and Surinder Choudhary in the Legislative Council today. He further said that government also envisages replacing ration cards with smart card to simplify and streamline the system. He said for the benefit of the consumers the government has taken up with the Oil Companies the matter of LPG outlets to cover the uncovered areas. Minister said the people were categorized as BPL families on the basis of 2001 Census and are getting ration along with other facilities on the same; however, the state government is pursuing with central government to provide rations to the state as per 2011 Census. The Minister said the department of CA&PD has issued ration cards to deserving BPL families on the basis of exiting list of BPL families of Rural Development Department and after every 2 to 3 years new ration booklets are being provided to already enrolled BPL families after ascertaining their present eligibility by a Committee both at Rural and Urban Level. The Minister said the Government has constituted Committees to re-verify BPL families in the State, for deletion of ineligible, and inclusion of eligible families in the current BPL lists, adding that efforts of the department are afoot to verify the lists. With regard to Socio-Economic and Cost Census 2011 that has been conducted in the State by Rural Development Department with technical and financial support from Union Ministry of Rural Development to identify BPL families in rural and urban areas, the Minister said that the process is likely to be completed by the end of April 2015, adding that after said survey/ process is completed and report is received in this department. He further said that there are 20030 BPL families in Reasi District. Minister of State for PHE Abdul Majid Paddar while replying to a question by Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo in the Legislative Council said the Water Supply Scheme Nigarh Kishtwar town, is ongoing under Special Task Force. He said the main components of the scheme stands allotted to M/S T.A Infra Projects Ltd Hyderabad. The company has dumped 11800 mtrs of 300 mm & 250 mm dia compound pipes at the site for gravity main. He said the work at head site has also been started and the work is held up due to recent rain/snowfall and will be resumed on improvement in weather conditions. The scheme is expected to be completed within two years. Minister further said that 96 Water Supply Schemes (WSS) under NRDWP and District sector at an estimated cost of Rs. 10843 lakh are ongoing. Minister further said that the Survey and Investigation of Nehhar Nigarh Kishtwar was conducted and Detailed Project Report stands reformulated as per revised Guidelines of AIBP and submitted to Director, Central Water Commission, Jammu for its technical appraisal. He said one water testing laboratory at Kishtwar Headquarter is functional for the last two years and other two new laboratories have been setup at Padder & Chatroo recently. |
