Copied from Gujarat, new recruitment policy 'will work in J&K' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 20: The new policy for contractual appointments announced by the J&K government on Sunday has been actually borrowed from Gujarat, a senior minister said on Monday. "The BJP ruled Gujarat government had earlier introduced this contractual appointment policy in the state. It was followed by other states including Himachal Pradesh. So there is nothing wrong in it," said the minister, wishing not to be named. The government is drawing flak over this policy from the opposition. It is being projected as against the interests of the youth. "Gujarat is one of the rich states of the country. A Gujarati is known for his business acumen. If the recruitment policy proved successful in Gujarat, there is no reason why it can't work in J&K," said the leader. Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had hinted on introducing this policy in the just concluded Budget Session of the Assembly, when he said that those appointed would not be shunted out. The policy is on the lines of the pension policy which was introduced by former CM Omar Abdullah. The government plans to save the money on account of the salaries in this policy but at the same time, give job and financial security. However, the intriguing part is that government has not specified what should be the consolidated pay the employee will get and what does term 'satisfactory' mean. "The government will come up with a clarification very soon and it is for sure the salary will not be Rs 3,500 as was fixed by the previous dispensation," said a senior government official, wishing not to be named. |
