Sales Tax recovery: DB grants four weeks to State to file detailed report | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 20: Division Bench (DB) of High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today expressed displeasure over slow pace of recovery of Sales Tax arrears from wines shops as well as Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) who are the defaulters and granted four weeks time to State to a file a detailed report. When hearing to Public Interest Litigation filed by Balvinder Singh & Ors regarding recovery of Sales Tax & Vat from all the defaulters to pay the Sales Tax under the J&K General Sales Tax Act and J&K VAT Act was taken up today, the Division Bench (DB) of state High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur after hearing Sr Adv Sunil Sethi with Adv Summit Nayyar appearing for the PIL whereas Sr AAG Gagan Basotra appearing for the state granted four weeks time to State to a file a detailed report as to why the huge amount has not been recovered from the wines shops as well as Public sector undertakings and the very meager amount has been recovered as per the statements filed by the State. |
