Calling Kashmir: Transporters asked to extend 20 percent concession | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu Apr 20: Keeping in view the government's initiative 'Calling Kashmir' to promote tourism in the state, the Transport Secretary Baseer Ahmed Khan along with a high level team of his officials today held a meeting with the transporters of both Jammu and Kashmir regions and asked the transporters to extend a helping hand to the government's initiative to promote tourism in state. He also exhorted them to extend 15 to 20 percent concession to the tourists at the existing fares to attract more and more tourists in the state especially to valley - known as Paradise on Earth. During the meeting held in the chamber of the Transport Secretary in Civil Secretariat in Summer Capital of the state, the senior bureaucrat Khan underlined the need of promoting tourism in the state. "for the very purpose, he said and added that the transport department has a significant role." For the comfort of the tourists, Khan laid emphasis on the offering of luxurious vehicles from cab operators which include Inova, Tavera, Etios, Scorpio and etc. The participating members laid emphasis upon the functional of the Radio Taxies also. Meantime the transporters raised the voice for allotting them space and consultation before taking any step regarding operational of Radio Taxies in Jammu. Pertinently atleast 860 prepaid taxies are functional in Jammu whereas a thousand are operating in Kashmir valley. Besides representatives from transport sector other prominent present in the meeting include Transport Commissioner Dilshad Khan, Joint Transport Commissioner G A Sofi and RTO Jammu Ashwani Sharma. |
