JAMMU, MAY 19: The Scouts & Guides wing of Model Academy in association with J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides Association organized a four-day Pravesh & Pratham Sopan camp from 13th May to 16th May at Model Academy. Around 200 Scouts & guides cadets of seven prominent schools of the state namely, Model Academy, Jodhamal Public school, Presentation Convent, Oriental Academy, New Era, Lawrence Public School, Shastri Memorial School and Alexander Memorial School attended the camp. The camp started with the welcome address of the scouts & guides trainers by Usha Chunni, leader of the camp. She while welcoming highlighted the importance of scouts & guides as part of non -formal education. The students participated in lots of fun filled learning activities during this training camp. They were trained about the history of the scouting movement and law promises, knowledge of patrol signaling, first aid, health rules, tying of knots, , flag song, BSG prayer, sign language, trekking and cooking without fire under the guidance of their guide captains and scouts masters, Bimla Handoo, Fazal Ahmed and Neelam Gupta. Usha Gadoo, officiating Principal, Model Academy was the chief guest on the inaugural day of the camp. She blessed the cadets & wished for the growth of the movement. Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER and Rupa Gupta were the chief guests on the closing day. Dr. Gupta appreciated the endeavour of the movement in providing right type of education and making the young scouts & guides physically fit, morally sound, spiritually awakened, mentally alert and ethically strong. He briefed the students that true education is the learning that one gains from the spirit of service, discipline and sacrifice in addition to the formal education |
