Don't act as second fiddles: BJP high command to party ministers | 'Stop reaping benefits of power, concentrate on work' | | Fazal Khan
Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 19: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ministers and leaders acting as second fiddles in the PDP-BJP government has annoyed the BJP top brass, sources told Early Times on Tuesday. They said the BJP top leaders are unhappy with the ministers in the coalition government as they believe that they (ministers) have failed to establish their writ and apparently it looks like that they have no say in the administrative affairs. "Since the day new government has been formed major administrative decisions have been taken by the PDP ministers. The BJP ministers not putting in much effort to have their say in the policy matters has not gone well with the BJP top brass in New Delhi," sources added. They said that a few BJP ministers had recently apprised the party top brass that PDP doesn't take them in loop and most decisions are being taken unilaterally. BJP ministers, according to the sources, have been told that they need to realize that they are equal partners in the government and they cannot just act as mute spectators. "If you feel that decisions are being taken without consulting you and you are being sidelined you have all the right to oppose it" a source quoted senior BJP leader as having told the party ministers from Jammu region. Sources said that BJP ministers are unhappy with the decisions which were taken during a cabinet meeting held hereon Monday. "We had suggested that before holding any cabinet meeting the coordination committee of the coalition partners should meet at least once so that if there are any issues, which we differ on, can be sorted out but PDP leaders have not paid any heed towards our suggestion. PDP didn't hold any discussion with us before yesterday's cabinet meeting. We were just handed over the list of the people who were transferred and were told to endorse it," said a BJP leader. He said if PDP continues to take the decisions unilaterally it would defeat the very purpose of the Coordination Committee. "We have briefed the party high command about the difficulties we are facing," the BJP leader added. The BJP insiders said, "The BJP leaders are trying to hide behind their failures, the fact of the matter is that they are not paying much heed towards the administrative issues and are busy in reaping the benefits of power. They (BJP) leaders have left the ground open for the PDP ministers to call the shots." The insiders revealed that BJP ministers are much inclined towards the vehicles, accommodation, security and other facilities which they are entitled too. "They (BJP) ministers are themselves responsible for them being sidelined. It's high time for them to pay attention towards their concerned ministries and the departments they head, otherwise they can face the axe as party leaders in Delhi are not happy with their performance," the insider added. The party high command, according to the sources, has asked the BJP ministers to ensure that they should be aware about all the developments and the major decisions which state government is going to take and if they feel that any decision would dent BJP's image in the long run they should inform the high command about it without wasting anytime. |
