Four killed, one injured in road mishap on Mughal-Road | | | Early Times Report
rajouri, May 19: Four labourers, working in cable laying project on Mughal Raod were killed while another was critically injured when Tata Mobile in which they were traveling skidded off the road and fell into deep gorge here today. Police sources said,"The deceased have been identified namely as Toffiq Ahmed r/o Daraba (Surankot), Mohd Arshad s/o Mohd Sharief r/o Mahore (Reasi) , Tuffail Ahmed r/o Kotranka (Rajouri) and Parviez Ahmed s/0 Nazir Ahmed r/o Sangaldan (Ramban) all presently hired by private cellular provider Airtel Company, "Meanwhile the injured identified as Maqsood Ahmed r/o Mahore (Reasi) has been shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu for specialized treatment, sources said. Giving details of tragedy, they said the five persons had gone to ferry some cable laying material including cable at temporary store of the company at Sikargah about 17 kilometers from Bafliaz in Poonch district. The mishap took place when they were returning to base at about 5 pm in the evening today, police said. According to Inspector Masoof Mirza, SHO Police Station Surankot who rushed to the accident spot said that deceased and injured were working as laborers with Airtel Company and were engaged in cable lying project on Mughal Road. he said, " Toffiq Ahmed driver of vehicle bearing regd no: JK02AP-5818 failed to negotiate a narrow turn while returning lost control over vehicle and the vehicle plunged into a deep gorge resulting into death of four persons and one critically injured." Locals and the army troopers deployed in the area rushed to accident spot and retrieved the injured and the deceased. |
