Celebrations turn into mourning | Village girl who secured 1st Division in matriculation dies in LPG cylinder blast hours | | Saahil Suahil Early Times Report Anantnag, May 19: In a heartbreaking incident a 16-year old girl who secured first division in matriculation examination died on Tuesday in tragic fire incident in Shampora village of Qazigund juts few hours after the family was celebrating her 'flying colours' performance in examination for which the State Board of School Education (BOSE) declared result. "Three other persons including a load carrier driver and a pedestrian also sustained injures in the incident, police sources said. According to police sources, due to LPG leakage the cylinder exploded at the house of Nazir Ahmad resulting on spot death of Asifa Nizar, who qualified her matriculation examination in flying colours. Sources said that the girl, Asifa Nazir, was cooking some special dish for her family in celebration of her success in 10th class examination, when the accident occurred. "Due to leakage in gas, the LPG Cylinder caught fire after which four other gas cylinders in the kitchen exploded resulting on spot death of girl," Showket Ahmad, a local resident and relative of the deceased told Early Times. He said that the impact of explosion of LPG cylinders was high that it also injured pedestrians including a load carrier driver passing nearby the house. According to family, Asifa (deceased) under roll number (1149235) had scored 327 marks out of 500. "She was extremely happy over her performance but almighty changed happiness changed into mourning," said Showket. Soon after the incident, a pall of gloom descended the village. Hundreds joined the funeral of the deceased girl late in the evening and mourned the death of teenage girl. Police have identified injured namely as Abdul Majid Malik (47) son of Ghulam Mohammad of Batpora Srinagar, Mohammad Latif Mir (32) son of Abdul Ahad Mir of Nowgund Qazigund and Mushtaq Ahmad Rather (30) son of Ghulam Mohidin of Panzath. "The injured were immediately shifted to Emergency Hospital Qazigund for the treatment where their condition is said to be stable, police sources said. |
