CAPD intensifies market checking, Directs for strict adherence to norms, rates

JAMMU, May 19: A team of officers of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department Jammu headed by Deputy Director (Supplies), Atam Dev Singh alongwith Assistant Directors and Area Inspectors conducted surprise checking of vegetable sellers at Jewel Chowk, B.C. Road, Rehari Colony, Janipur, Roop Nagar, Muthi, Paloura, Bakshi Nagar, Railway Station, Trikuta Nagar, Subash Nagar and Channi Himmat etc and a fine of Rs. 0.23 lakh was realized on spot for violation of various provisions of Essential Commodities Act such as non-display of rate lists, over charging etc.
The team also warned the commercial establishments not to violate the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act and directed them to strictly adhere to the norms and rates notified from time to time.
They asked them to display the rate lists and desist from use of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes. General public has been informed that they can register their grievance on telephone no 1967 (Toll Free) and 0191-2502609for their redressal.
