BJP to amend J&K Constitution for special rights, citizenship to refugees soon

Jammu, May 19: Hinting at citizenship rights soon to the west Pakistan refugees, the BJP today said Jammu and Kashmir constitution will be amended for special rights to them. ''A committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh has been constituted to review the rights of west Pakistan refugees and the citizenship rights will soon be granted to them, BJP state president and Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma told reporters on the sidelines of a function here this afternoon. Sharma further said the government has also been approached for amendment in the state constitution to prove special treatment to the refugees at the time of admissions in schools, colleges and other institutions besides availing other facilities. ''Our talks with alliance partner Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed-led PDP are also in progress over the issue and we hope that it will soon be resolved, said the BJP leader.
