Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 19 : Cops, who were found drunken on duty, were likely to face disciplinary action and instructions in this regard have already been given by senior police officers to SHOs of different police stations. The need to this effect arose after an inebriated havaldar misbehaved with an IPS officer at Narwal here a few days back. The havaldar was drunk heavily during duty hours. Taking this incident seriously, senior police officers passed on instructions to SHOs of different police stations to make sure that no cop in their respective areas of jurisdiction was drunk during duty hours. The SHOs were asked to send home the inebriated cops, if any, and mark their absent on that particular day. Senior police officers had also been receiving complaints in this regard during the past some time, according to police sources. It may be mentioned that some cops, especially those who are part of the police flying squad vehicles, can be seen drunk almost daily in the evening.
