Jammu, May 24: BJP on Sunday admitted that being in ideological dissimilarities with the coalition partner PDP in Jammu and Kashmir, it is likely to come face-off with many controversies.
Its national spokesman Samvit Patra who was in the town to elaborate BJP’s one year’s feats in the centre said the party had no option , but to go with the ideologically opposite PDP for government formation as the mandate given to the party had to be respected.
Patra, however denied ‘coalition of compulsion’ and said that alliance has been formed for delivering good governance to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The party’s national spokesman, when quizzed circuitously over BJP remaining a silent spectator as a ‘tool’ used by the PDP in hijacking the projects announced for Jammu leading to rise of controversies , gave a clandestine reply saying, “ I call it a democratic norm and not the controversy. People should raise the issues and government should respond”.
The query was raised over the uproar generated on the statements issued by the chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayed like establishing of AIIMS in Kashmir and shelving of the most prestigious river Tawi lake project.” Controversies have no meaning in the democratic norms which are addressed by concerned authorities at proper forums,” said Patra.
He does not, however, give any clear indication as to whether AIIMS would be established in Jammu and Lake Project would not be shelved.
On defence minister Manohar Parikar’s statement that you have to neutralize terrorist through terrorist only, Samvit refused to intrude into the defence ministry’s strategic operations. “Defence minister’s statement was strategic as all issues are clinically strategized before any conclusions are reached upon. But Parikar’s statement was very straight and tough to Pakistan which is a failed state and sponsored terrorism,” he said.
BJP spokesman however denied India starting terror camps in Pakistan but said, it should not take India to go soft pedaling on terrorists who would be neutralized which was not done earlier.
Regarding repealing of Art 370 in the state, Patra said it is BJP’s core ideology but it cannot see the light of the day until BJP gets two-third majority in the Parliament.
As soon as we will get the two-third majority in the Parliament, we would start process on its repeal, we have not kept it on the back-foot, but for now have brought development ahead to give Jammu and Kashmir a good governance, he said.
The BJP national spokesman also cleared the alleged contradictions brewing over state and centre’s statements on giving visa to Geelani saying, no conclusion has been reached on it yet.
“BJP has never been soft on terror or separatism. There is no confusion on passport issue of Geelani. Centre has made it absolutely clear that passport has not been given to him, said Patra adding that all separatists should be made to fill the passport forms so that they can declare that they belong to this country and be identified as nationalists.
