'Wrong policies' of PDP-BJP coalition add to people's miseries: Mir | Takes dig at Manohar Parikar's remarks | | Early Times Report Srinagar, May 24: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee held a one day political convention of party functionaries, contesting candidates and block presidents of Kupwara district at Kupwara. Speaking on the occasion, Mir rejected the Defence Minister Manohar Parikar's remarks on Kashmir situation in which he indicated about Ikhwan culture in Kashmir. Expressing surprise over his remarks, he said, "It clearly shows the mindset of NDA government, there is neither any space for another gun culture, nor it can be allowed to prevail again in the state as the situation in Valley has improved considerably. Any such move by the NDA government with the regard to Jammu and Kashmir will be defeated on every front." "It seems Defence Minister had not done his home work properly, before his departure from Union Capital," he claimed. Mir expressed serious concern over the intentions of the state government in respect of providing ration to the people as per the 2011 census report. He alleged that MLAs of ruling parties with the help of bureaucrats are indulging in pick and choose policy as, those consumers who are already registered are being left out and unregistered families are being registered with the sole aim to gain political mileage out of it. He said everyone has the right to get rations, but within the set norms and without any kind of political interference. Referring to the coalition of PDP and BJP Mir said, "Those who were confident that Mufti will never compromise on anything for the sake of power, got disappointed soon after he sacrificed his conscience for coming into power by not caring for those people who voted for PDP with the hope that it will definitely stop BJP wave. It is an eye opener for everyone in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladkah that PDP sold dreams, disappointed and added to the miseries of the people." He said Congress being a constructive opposition will always appreciate the pro-people policies of government and support in implementing the right decisions that will benefit the people of the State in true sense, but will never compromise on anything which goes against the aspirations of the people of all the three regions of the State and will fight both in both Legislative Assembly, Parliament and at every appropriate forum. Mir blamed PDP-BJP coalition for misleading and playing pranks with the people on relief and rehabilitation policy and in the name of good governance. Where is the rehabilitation package for flood affected people? He questioned and sought answers from coalition. |
