20 yrs on, shopkeeper awaits renovation of shop | | | Early Times Report
Hiranagar, May 29: A shopkeeper whose shop was damaged twenty years ago is still waiting for renovation. The concerned municipality is reluctant to undertake renovation even after two decades he filed an application for renovation. While interacting with the media, Ashok said he was allotted a government shop to run his business but unfortunately his shop was damaged 2 decades ago. He could not renovate the shop as per law so he approached the MC Hiranagar for renovation of shop but ironically it took them 20 years allow the renovation. Ashok said he raised the issue before the concerned but all in vain. He demanded that Municipal committee must speed up their legal process and allow him to renovate the shop. Shashi Rana, a local alleged that an Executive Officer sought graft which Ashok could not pay. He said no development work has been initiated till day during the tenure of sitting EO Municipal committee Hiranagar. He sought strict action against EO for impediment the matter. When contacted Yudh Raj Bhagat, EO MC Hiranagar, said the office has identified his case and formulated the estimate to renovate the shop that would start within days. It is pertinent to mention here that several such cases are pending with the office of MC Kathua, Nagri and other tehsils of district Kathua. DDC who is also the chairman of such committees must consider the cases on priority basis as shopkeepers can't work properly due to damage in the shops. |
