How gun factory owners fleece their workers | | | Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, May 29: The exploitation of workers of many gun factories by their owners can be gauged from the fact that Provident Fund (PF) of the workers is deducted by their employers but is not deposited with the PF office. The workers are on an indefinite strike for last many days in support of their demands and against the oppression of their owners. "There are workers of at least 20 gun factories who are victimized by their owners as they don't get wages on monthly basis," said a group of workers. They alleged that PF is deducted in all these factories from their salary @ 12% which has to be deposited at PF office. "But the same is not deposited by the employers," they said. The workers also alleged that the factory owners maintain two records of PF out of which one is authentic and is sent to the PF office regularly but the other one remains with them and is not sent to the PF office. "The PF is deposited of very selective workers who are either their relatives or favorites, while PF of the rest of workers remains with their owners," they said. As per credible sources, Khalsa Gun Factory has not deducted PF of their employees for a long time in violation of the Labour Laws, depriving the workers of their rights. "Despite a number of complaints against this misdeed of their employers with the PF office, no action has been taken against the factory owners so far," the sources added. |
