DB directs NHAI, Ramky to file fresh status report | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 29: Division Bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice D S Thakur directed National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Ramky Infrastructure Ltd to file fresh status reports before next date of hearing on July 1, for making highway motarable. Hearing the PIL, the Division Bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice D S Thakur directed them to file the latest reports after they said that 90% of the patch work to make the throughfare motable has been completed. Meanwhile Joginder Pal Singh, Inspector General of Police Traffic J&K, informed the court in a compliance report whatever traffic mess taking place, it is because of the dilapidated roads. Meanwhile, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir Satish Razdan submiited to the court that 1696.06kms roads was badly damaged due to last year's divesting floods and added that permanent restoration of these roads to the existing specifications is worked out to Rs 327.16 crores and intimated to administrative Department. However, he said no funds for the permanent restoration have been released till date. He also informed that the abnormal weather and excessive snow and rain in March and April made further damages to the road network, requiring additional amount of Rs 222.48 crores for permanent restoration of these road. |
