Locals from W-5, W-10 protest against MC Rajouri | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, June 8: Locals hailing from W-5 and W- 10 of Rajouri Municipal Committee today held protests at their respective wards alleging that the MC officials are not sincere towards their problems regarding the sanitation of their areas. Rajesh Kumar, Raj Kumar and other from W-10, alleged that the lanes in the ward are in dilapidated conditions, drains always remain fill with garbage making runoff water to overflow in lanes, most of street lights are non functional and above all 'safai wals' are not regular which makes the area to present dirty looks. "Many times people get injuries in the absence of proper street lights and due to depleted lanes, said Mukesh while adding, "Lanes and drains have been encroached by the people and the Municipal Committee officials playing a role of mute spectators but commuters are suffering due to their casual approach in these matters. Similarly inhabitants of W- 5 also held protest against Municipal Committee authorities alleging that authorities are least bothered about the heaps of garbage, overflowing sewage water, faulty street lights and encroachments of lanes and drains in the ward. Un-planned/illegal construction, encroachment of lanes and drains restrict safai walas to bring trolleys inside the ward resulting large scale garbage dumps, they alleged. "No doubt, Safaiwalas do make their best to lift garbage manually but this is little to remove large quantity hence resulting in garbage dumps at many places large scale" said Mohd Tariq, social activist. Shahbaz and others have appealed to district administration to pay attention to their problems and direct MC authorities to take necessary action in this matter. |
