BJP ministers fail to hit the ground | Enjoying Power! | | Skip official functions; Avoid people, party activists Fazal Khan Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 8: The BJP ministers have failed to make their presence felt on the ground. They remain confined to their cozy office chambers and lavish government quarters which have been provided to them. Sources told Early Times none of the BJP ministers attended the inaugural ceremony of Police Public Cricket Premier League held at Bakshi Stadium here recently. All the top dignitaries, including the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed graced the occasion, but none of the BJP ministers turned to attend the function. Sources said that Police had sent invitations to all the BJP ministers and had even reserved the seats for the expected guests who failed to show up. "The rift among the BJP ministers is taking a toll on party's image. The BJP ministers don't feel comfortable with each other and avoid sharing a common stage," they added. The BJP leaders not showing up in public, refraining from meeting people and remaining inaccessible has made the unpopular among the masses. Sources said that BJP leaders not showing inclination towards people and acting like "monarchs" has annoyed the BJP high command as BJP ground level activists have informed the central leadership about the "indifferent attitude" of the party ministers. "Forget about BJP ministers meeting the people from Kashmir they don't even meet their own activists and supporters, who ensured their win in the Jammu region. BJP ministers have started believing that power was their ultimate aim and they have achieved their goal," said a critic. A Kashmir based BJP leader while talking to Early Times said the "indifferent attitude" of the party ministers is not helping their cause. "People whom we had enrolled as members are asking us what happened to the promises which we had made to them," he said. "We have requested our ministers on many occasions to address rallies and party conventions to boost the morale of the cadres and the instill confidence among the masses." The leader said that they are under tremendous pressure to perform and ensure that party opens its account in the forthcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections. "If our ministers don't cooperate the ULB elections would once again prove to be damp squib for the party," he added. The leader said that they informed the party high command about the issues which are confronting them. "Ground realities are bitter and party high command should understand our compulsions. It is astounding that despite clear cut instructions from the party top brass the BJP ministers have remained unmoved. They seem least bothered about what is being told to them," he added. Another BJP leader said, "It's strange that our ministers are only interested in transfers and postings of the officials. They (ministers) have shifted their focus on bureaucrats and seem least bothered about the issues confronting people." Asked why didn't BJP leaders attend the inaugural ceremony of the Police Public Cricket Premier League, the leader said, "It's not the first official function which they (ministers) have missed. They have made it a habit not to socialize and remain confined in their own world. Almighty only can help them. " |
