Rs 20 lakh theft case: Gold smith, four other thieves identified; police team leaving for Delhi, Meerut

Jammu, June 8: Continuing its efforts to solve the much publicized theft worth Rs 20 lakhs in Channi Himmat, the concerned police taking lead has put, Manapuram Gold Loan Company which gives loan to the people against gold, one Gold Smith from Meerut, under radar after four interstate thieves disclosed that stolen jewellery was disposed off through the said jeweler.
The revelation came during questioning of the four thieves, arrested by the Channi Himmat police with the gold and diamond jewelry worth Rs 20 lakh, on Sunday last. Following the disclosure the Delhi based branch of a gold loan company too has come under scanner of police.
Police sources said, "During questioning of the thieves who were on four days police remand and are presently under the custody of Channi Himmat police spilled the beans that the huge gold which they stole in Jammu since 2009, was kept with the goldsmith in Meerut. Quoting the detained burglars, sources said, "They (burglars) identified goldsmith as Sham Suniyara (Goldsmith). They further revealed that they have gang of eight persons and four of them presently are lodged with the Bilaspur's jail and they identified them namely as Siva, Pussu, Nanki Dau and Kurbut.
Following disclosure, a police team led by SHO Channi Himmat Aejaz Ahmed Wani is leaving for Meerut and Delhi to arrest the alleged accused gold smith and for questioning to employees of the Gold Loan Company as the stolen jewelry was kept with the company without any proper verification/requisite documentation.
Pertinently, Channi Himmat police have arrested four interstate thieves besides recovering stolen jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh.
With the arrest of these thieves police claimed to have solved seven thefts reported from the area falling under their jurisdiction. Already, the thieves have 14 thefts their name which are confined only in Jammu for which they were awarded rigorous imprisonment . The accused identified as Hari Prashad s/o Mohan, Rajkumar Kuttary s/o Kanhi Lal , Basant Kumar s/o Jai Krishan, all residents of Chattisgarh and Noor Mohd s/o Mohd Saleem of Meerut after completing their sentence once again started joint burglar gang in Jammu.
They landed in police custody after Channi Police received complaint from one Kulbshan Khana s/o Purja Dass Khana of sector 1, Channi Himmat in which he alleged that some burglars broke open their house and decamped with gold ornaments and diamond jewelery.
And with their arrest, the police recovered items included gold bangles, one pair, diamond set valuing Rs 9 lakh, Mangal Sutra,4 silver glasses,12 silver bowles, gold biscuits, gold chain with locket, 3 gold rings, ear rings, 3 pair, one diamond bangle ,one gold chain with locket, gold locket, camera, radio, calculator, , 9 silver coins, one lady's watch and costly cosmetics.
The arrest and recoveries were made effective by a police team led by SDPO East Mohd Rafiq Manhas SHO Channi Himmat Inspector Aejaz Wani, ICPP Sainik Colony Susheel Chowdhury and supervised by SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
