Transfers of teachers via rationalization attempt to degrade Govt schools, alleges JKTF

Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, June 8: Terming the recent transfers of teachers in Kashmir in the name of rationalization as an attempt to play with the career of students studying on Govt. schools, Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) Monday claimed in 'absence of the clear cut transfer policy', such a measure is illogical and anti-education.
The JKTF chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani said that it is injustice with the students and has been formulated made on the basis of number of students not the classes.
"A middle school has at least nine classes bearing Nursery which requires at least nine teachers one Head Master and Physical Education teacher, how it is possible that a teacher can take eight to ten classes at one time. So rationalization in primary middle High and Higher Secondary school should be made on the strength of classes and not on roll, If it is not done, it would be sheer injustice with the students and their career," Wani said.
He added that it is not the proper time for rationalization as Government is not clear on the examination calendar.
"It is not yet decided whether examinations would be conducted in November or March. Same is equally true for syllabus as syllabus would not be completed by the November. This will worsen the system and this won't be tolerated. Each school should have subject knowing teaching otherwise Urdu Teacher would have to teach Maths in the schools. A survey should be conducted to this and to provide subject specific teachers."
Wani said the teachers are well aware and well conscious of their duties and in odd times they delivered well and despite of non- payment of salaries they kept the candle of knowledge aglow.
