DB dismisses plea to celebrate annual Shri Ganesh Mahautsav at Parade | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 8: In a much publicized Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding filed by Shambu Nath and Others in which Division Bench earlier had directed that Parade Ground be used only for Sports Activity and later a petition was filed seeking permission to celebrate annual Shri Ganesh Mahautsav at Parade Ground, Jammu as special case, Division Bench (DB) of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Sing Thakur observed dismissed the application seeking permission to Celebrate Ganesh Mahatutsav from September 17-27 as a special case. A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasantha Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Sing Thakur observed that through its order dated April 11, 2014 passed in WPPIL, this Court considered the nature of the area where the applicant is seeking permission to celebrate Shri Ganesh Mahautsav as play ground and held that the play ground should not be used for any other purpose except sport activities and if there is any violation of the directions issued in PIL No.807/1998 dated 08/05/2002 and the directions issued on 11/11/2014, the same shall be considered as contempt of Court and appropriate proceedings shall be initiated. Division Bench observed that in light of the final orders passed and having regard to the fact that the permission sought for is other than the sports activity and dismissed the application seeking permission to Celebrate Ganesh Mahatutsav at Parade Ground. |
