Dy CM cancels back door allotment of commercial sites on Thanger nallah
Assures strict action after completion of inquiry in case

Jammu, June 8: Acting against the deep rooted nexus between land mafia and officials of the J&K Housing Board who were allegedly involved in multi crore land scam in Channi -Himmat, the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh has ordered back door allotment of commercial sites on Thanger nallah in Channi Himmat and assured guilty will be punished after completing of probe in this regard.
Dr Singh said, "I have already ordered cancellation of allotment of commercial sites on a reclaimed portion of land retrieved from Thanger Nallah in Channi Himmat." He said the Govt will identify the officers responsible for the scam and punish the guilty after completing the inquiry.
While interacting with the media persons on the occasion of completion of 100 days in office at his official residence Deputy Chief Minister Dr Singh said, "Immediately after receiving the reports of multi crore land scam in Channi Himmat, I had ordered cancellation of all such allotments made on reclaimed land after the completion of channelisation work of Thanger Nallah."
JK Housing board was keen on developing the strip as commercial sites and had allotted the same to private parties through back door in grave violation of the Apex court rulings on change of land use of water bodies.
Dr Singh said that before he assumed charge of office the payments were made. He said I immediately ordered an end to this multi crore deal. Responding to series of queries on the issue Dr Singh said the land is with us and the violation has been corrected now the only job which is left is identification of J&K Housing Board officials who were responsible for the scam.
He said that the government is committed to weed out corruption from state government departments. "We will take strict action after the completion of inquiry in the case, he said. Referring to a court case in the matter, Dr Singh said, "Some people have gone to the court of law but I can tell you this is our final decision that all the allotments have been cancelled in the multi crore land scam case."
Meanwhile welcoming the decision of the Deputy Chief Minister PL Kohli, President of the Save Channi Himmat Action Committee said, "We welcome the statement of Deputy Chief Minister over the issue of cancellation of allotments of commercial sites on reclaimed portion of land of Thanger Nallah in Channi Himmat."
Kohli said residents of Channi Himmat have been demanding development of green strip of land to save ecology of the housing colony on the reclaimed portion of land.
