Resolute authorities not to allow Separatists' 'Sopore Chalo' | Separatist leaders put under House arrest | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report Srinagar, June 18: Determined to thwart 'Sopore chalo' proposed by Separatists to protest killings in Apple town, On Friday, authorities have started a massive hunt to detain and House Arrest Separatist leaders across Kashmir . After Hardliner separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani was put under House arrest by authorities last week, sources said that Police on Thursday detained other senior Separatist leaders including Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah who was under detention since last weekend, however was formally detained today and shifted to some unknown place in Kashmir. Sources said that Police also detained Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik along with other noted separatist leaders of both the factions of Mirwaiz Umar and Yaseen Malik from Srinagar and other parts of North Kashmir as well. Another noted separatist leader of Geelani's faction Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai is already under house detention while as National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan has also been placed under house detention, besides dozens of other Separatist leaders from different parts of Kashmir associated with Geelani and Mirwaiz led factions have also been detained and crack down on separatists leaders is on to foil their sopore Chalo Programme of Friday. As per Schedule, senior separatist leaders who earlier unanimously announced Sopore Chalo on Friday are scheduled to address a public gathering in the town after Friday prayers. However official sources informed early times that they are not allowing separatists to reach Sopore on Friday to disrupt law and order and in this regard all possible steps have already been put in place to foil their (separatists) Sopore Chalo Programme. Pertinently Following back to back Killings recently in Srinagar by unknown gunmen in Sopore town, both factions of Separatists led by Hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had called for Sopore chalo on Friday after both the had called for Strike on wednesday. Police Sources said that authorities are already working on recent spurt of Killings by unknown gunmen in Sopore and in this regard they have identified two gunmen allegedly involved in the said killings and have announced a reward of Rs 10 lac each on their heads recently. According to sources one special team constituted to probe recent killings and attacks in Sopore have so far detained dozens of youths for questioning from different areas of Sopore and the process is on to nab the main people behind the attacks on people and telecommunication installations. Pertinently following recent back to back attacks on former militants,police on Tuesday claimed to have identified attackers and placed a bounty of 2 million rupees on the heads of two wanted militants of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit namely Abdul Qayoom Najar and Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo. |
