VHP accuses BJP of working under Separatists' pressure | Amarnath Yatra | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 21: All is not well in the Sangh Parivar, the so-called non-political outfit. The Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP), which is an important wing of the RSS, is not happy with the state government of which the BJP is the second most important constituent. The BJP is the political organ of the RSS, which virtually controls and guides it, as all the general secretaries (organization) have all along been from the RSS. The RSS and the BJP work in complete unison. On Saturday, the VHP launched a scathing attack on the government, the BJP, and charged it with working under pressure from separatists in Kashmir, who hate the annual Amarnath Yatra saying the Yatra pollutes the Kashmir's salubrious environment, disturbs Kashmir's ecology and pollutes the Kashmiri culture. They regard the Holy Amarnath Yatra a "cultural aggression on Kashmir". "The government is working under the pressure of separatists on Yatra but now it appears that the Board is also working under the pressure of separatists. There are crisis, chaos and confusion in Kashmir Valley at present and when the Yatra is just over 10 days away no proper arrangements have been made by Shrine Board for the pilgrims," said VHP State patron Rama Kant Dubey, adding that if the attitude of the government of which the BJP is a part remained unchanged, the annual Yatra would turn out to be a non-event and a victory of secessionists and communalists in the Valley. We expect about ten lakh Yatris, but the State Government and the Shrine Board are working in a fashion that would reduce the number of pilgrims drastically, he said. "Most of the members of the Shrine Board are those whose names were cleared by the RSS and the BJP," sources revealed. It is a fact. That the VHP attacked the state government and the Shrine Board saying none of them took it into confidence till date only vindicates those who term the "RSS an outfit of organizations which sometime work at cross purposes to mislead people". "The RSS wings make contradictory statements on the same issue to mislead the people and cause confusion as part of their strategy," the critics of the Sangh Parivar invariably say. Earlier in May 2015, president of VHP Leela Karan Sharma had lambasted the BJP during the AIIMS Coordination Committee meeting and surprised all those present in the meeting to discuss ways and means to achieve AIIMS for Jammu by making a startling revelation that "something serious was cooking up under the carpet in Delhi as far as the future o Jammu & Kashmir is concerned". He had given the members of the Coordination Committee to understand that the BJP could compromise the Indian position on Jammu & Kashmir and assured the Coordination Committee of his unqualified support to the Jammu cause. "I will continue to contribute to the Jammu cause even if I am expelled from the VHP," he had declared. In any case, the charge leveled by the VHP against the BJP, the state government and the Shrine Board appears to be well-founded. But the question to be asked is: Why did not the VHP ask the BJP to either come out of the government or ensure that the Yatra became a grand success? It just can't attack the BJP and remain part of the RSS at the same time. It must come clean on the issue by defining its relationship with the BJP failing which the people would be left with no other alternative but to say that the VHP makes issues only to remain in the news. |
