Longest but not hottest day in Jammu as rain dips temp | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 21: It was the longest day but fortunately not the hottest in this winter capital of the state as late last night showers dipped the temperature by few degrees today. The showers had dipped the soaring temperature by few degrees thus bringing respite to the Jammuities from the scorching heat, an official here today said. He said that yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded 38.2 degrees Celsius and minimum was 29.5 degrees Celsius. Seasons hottest day was recorded on June 19 when maximum temperature touched 42 degree Celsius. 'It was the longest day and said to be the hottest also but fortunately, the soaring mercury dipped with the last night showers, he added. An official said that it was pre-monsoon showers, which are likely to hit Jammu and Kashmir by July mid. However, the schools in Jammu province are already closed for summer vacations while the famous tourist destinations are witnessing huge rush of visitors not only from across the country but also of locals. Meanwhile erratic power supply and unscheduled power cuts in the prevailing weather conditions have also irked the locals. |
