NABARD conducts FLAC at Vijaypur | | | Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, July 10: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) today, organized a financial literacy awareness camp at Village Gho Brahamana of block Vijaypur in District Samba. The programme was inaugurated by Surinder Singh, District Development Manager of NABARD. Speaking on the occasion, Singh apprised that the program is organized under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna which aimed at eradicating financial untouchability by providing bank accounts to the poor. He said that it was indeed a matter of great pain that 80 to 90 percent of the people in India do not have access to insurance and pension. He said that the fruits of development must reach the poorest of the poor, and therefore, the Union Government had launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. He added that Jan Dhan has taken a step forward to Jan Suraksha with the launch of three social security schemes, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna and Atal Pension Yojna. K L Sharma, Area Manager, J&K Grameen Bank discussed in detail about the eligibility and modalities of these schemes. He also spoke about the various loan products available with bank. Rajesh Sharma, LDM impressed upon the public to come forward and avail benefits of these social security schemes. An on-spot registration counter was also set up by the J&K Grameen Bank at the venue of the camp. A large number of people availed the benefit of this counter and registered their names under these schemes. KCC loans amounting 56 lakhs were also distributed amongst farmers. Rampal Sharma, Sarpanch, Ajitpal Sharma, Naib Sarpanch and a large number of local residents were also present on the occasion. |
